There is something special about old barns. They are full of memories, and their stories are part of what make them a beautiful sight in any landscape. One children's story tells a winter tale about the animals in one barn. It is calle Annabelle's Wish, and is a holiday classic all ages can enjoy.
Annabelle's Wish tells the story of a young calf named Annabelle and a mute boy named Billy. Annabelle was born on Christmas Eve and she and her mother are visited by Santa that night. Santa's gift to all the animals in the barn is the ability to talk for all of Christmas Day. Annabelle is excited to talk, but her true wish is to fly and become one of Santa's reindeer.
The animals' gift of speech is meant to be kept a secret from humans, but Annabelle accidentally talks in front of Billy. She finds out that Billy has not been able to talk since he was caught in a barn fire years before.
Over the next year, Billy and Annabelle become best friends. When Christmas comes again, Annabelle asks Santa to permanently give her Christmas voice to Billy – meaning she'll never talk again. years later, on her last Christmas, Annabelle is rewarded for her selflessness. She finally gets her wish; Santa makes her one of his reindeer. It just goes to show that you never know what kind of magic you'll find in an old barn.
